  • Test Pressing / White Label LP
    Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

When a new release goes off to the record pressing plant to be manufactured, almost all of the time (it's the labels choice) a set of white label test pressings are made and sent to the label to check everything is as it should be before the rest of the actual pressing is produced. Test pressings usually come in quantities of 5 or 10, depending on how many you ask for and how many folks need to hear and okay it before saying 'yes' to the full production run. This LP is one of those.

They don't come with printed sleeves or printed labels. They are black vinyl LP's with plain white labels (or sometimes i've stamped them with the label logo stamp) in white card sleeves with info sticker attached and an A4 press sheet inside.

In some instances where a release has only ever been issued on coloured vinyl, these black vinyl copies are the only ones in this colour in existence.

Basically, they're for the curious and the collectors out there, They cost me money, and i set the price to reflect this and their rarity. I make no secret of the fact i'm selling what i have left to spare to help raise funds to go into the production pot which funds the next batch of releases. It always needs topping up and i'd rather someone into these had them and enjoy them.

PLEASE NOTE : All non UK postage/shipping prices are for standard airmail only. This does not include tracking or insurance. If you want to upgrade to registered postage/shipping please add the optional postage upgrade from the vinyl/CD/tapes link to your cart before you checkout and pay for your order. Thanks!

about

‘Del Rio’ is the third album from the Austin triumvirate of guitarist Craig Clouse (Shit and Shine), bassist Nate Cross (Marriage, Expensive Shit) and drummer King Coffey (Butthole Surfers) and the band’s first release to feature vocals from Colby Brinkman (Taverner).

While their two prior albums (2017’s ‘Laredo’ and 2019’s ‘Matamoros’) were somewhere on the periphery of rock music , ‘Del Rio’ is a step or several beyond and a real testament to human imagination (maybe you’re impressed by Tesla Powerwall batteries but that’s because you’ve not heard “Soft Taco”, yet)

Coming off a pair of records their respective labels could barely keep in stock and critical assessments that put reviewers’ own chops to the test (see below), USA/Mexico have delivered their most fully realized statement to date.

Prior praise for ‘Matamoros’ :

“Laredo was a bent-out sunstroke of processed vocals and noise-laden riffs, and its follow up Matamoros is slower, freakier, and somehow louder…too defiantly weird and alien for pigeonholing, that’s how they fit inside Austin’s storied noise rock and experimental music scenes: by refusing to fit exactly in anywhere.” Andy O’Connor, Pitchfork

“Monolithic without being monotone: dirty sounds and gritty textures sliding over each other like sandpaper wiped across a chalkboard.” Marc Masters, Bandcamp

“The amplifiers sound broken, the vocals suggest someone's got their leg caught in a mantrap while deep in the woods trying to poach fat brown hares, and the mixing desk squeals as if it is undergoing physical torture.” JP Moores, The Quietus
